Purhaps!! if you already get a lack of iron in your diet
such as you leave out certain foods containing iron, yes you should but check with your doctor as to much iron in your diet
can defeat the purpose!! GOOD LUCK!!

Leave the iron suppliments ALONE. Get iron from natural sources.
Iron overdose is easy. If you have around 400mg of iron in one day, you die.
Use a multi vitamin with vitamin C and magnesium.

Iron supplements can be useful to 'top up' your iron stores. However, the iron you get from a supplement (whether its multivitamin or just iron) is not absorbed as well as the iron you can get from food.
I suggest that you try increasing iron in your diet by eating high iron foods (lean red meats, spinach, mushrooms, chicken - if you want more just google source of iron). Also, when eating iron foods combine them with foods high in vitamin C (citrus fruits like oranges or 100% orange juice) this will enhance the absoprtion of iron.
So try to include high iron foods and also take the supplement for a short period to increase your stored then periodically to prevent anaemia from occurring again.
Often iron supplements can make you constipated so that might explain the horrible odour?
